Because most “skill based matchmaking” i see feels like “spent time ingame” – based. Even though i am a bad player, my “level” constantly rises, instead of leveling out at a point where it represents my skill. Because of that the longer i play, the harder the competition gets.

After all, matches are not fought one on one, but team versus team. In team battle team battle as general term, not the WoWs team battle ones performance is hard to measure, I’ve seen many times one ship luring several enemies in one map corner effectively removing them from battle – and still this one player has hardly any damage done, he hasn’t capped anything and has very little experience from the match – but still he has secured a win for his team.
At the same time someone in that very same match has been AFK and is rewarded a win with that one guy who did great work. Point being that everyone is rewarded regarding the end result, not their individual performance. And as said before this individual performance is very hard if not impossible to measure. And if only team performance is regarded – it doesn’t matter whether teams are roughly equal or teams consist of 24 identical skill level players.
We have quite a few threads about carrier players being different skill levels and thus ruining the game for rest of us. This is when only one side has CV doing k damage and other can barely get his planes in air. If we had skill based MM and at sometime there would be one truly epic CV player on server would it be fair for him to wait 20 minutes for a match waiting for another good CV player to pop in?
